Hello Andrew,
Thanks for your very kind message. I spoke to Den today and she remembers you very clearly, even has some memories of singing in a school choir or something. She wondered if you were on Facebook? She is on - Denise Hazlehurst - so look her up if you can. They have recently changed their e-mail address and I haven't got the new one yet, but will find a way to send it to you when I do. I am also on Facebook under the name "Harry Gruntfuttock" - long story - but you are welcome to look me up as well!
Regards,
Bill

Bill

Thank you for this. It's very well written and brings back a lot of happy memories. I spent my first eleven years in Bilston before migrating to Australia with my parents in 1964. It was great place to be a growing child; lots of places to play, explore and wander freely. Revisiting them through your account has been a real pleasure.

Like you, I went to Villiers. In fact I was in the same class as Denise for the full seven years. It's been over fifty years since I last saw her. I'd be grateful if you could pass on my best regards next time you see her.

Hi Cousin
Can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading this. I well remember the lamp shade in the front room at Prouds Lane as we were all shown the famous hole which your dad made in it. Could you possibly email me a copy of the photo taken at the Coronation party even though I win the grumpiest baby award on that one. By the way it's time you joined us all on Facebook.
Love Linda xx

Hi Bill,
I found your website really interesting and especially enjoyed the pictures, hadn't seen any of your Mom as a young woman and it was good to learn something of her early history.
Reading about the Hawkins clan is always a delight and I think we were lucky to belong to such a close knit and happy clan.
You are a bit rude about Den, will she ever forgive you?
Love from Anne
